The Anti-Political Dynasty Bill is a priority legislation of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III and Major Leader Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos.
In line with this, the House Committee on Suffrage and Electoral Reform, chaired by Rep. Zia Alonto-Adiong, has begun deliberations on 20 House bills intended to define political dynasties. These hearings are key steps toward passing an enabling law that fulfills the Constitution's mandate to prohibit political dynasties and ensure equal access to the country’s elected posts.
Alonto-Adiong stressed that the process will be fair, inclusive, and focused on fostering open dialogue. In his opening remarks at the hearing, Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III emphasized that the Filipino people have waited for close to 40 years for the enactment of an enabling law that would implement the constitutional provision that would prohibit political dynasties.
