The House of Representatives, under the leadership of Speaker Faustino “Bodjie” Dy III, proudly joined the global observance of World Hijab Day. The celebration highlighted the importance of respecting personal identity and honoring freely chosen expressions of faith.
In his message during the event, Speaker Dy stated: “World Hijab Day is a reminder that identity deserves respect and that faith, when freely chosen and sincerely expressed, becomes a source of strength, dignity, and purpose. For many Muslim women, the hijab is far more than a garment — it stands as a powerful symbol of conviction, a personal choice that reflects deep faith, self-worth, and quiet confidence.”
The occasion was made even more meaningful by the presence of several distinguished guests, among them former President and Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo; His Excellency Dato' Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Philippines; House Committee on Muslim Affairs Chairperson Rep. Bai Dimple Mastura; National Commission on Muslim Filipinos Commissioner Dalisay Macadawan; several members of the House of Representatives; and Congressional Spouses Foundation President Mrs. Mary Ann Dy, and Ms. Queenie Padilla.
Through this gathering, the House reaffirmed its commitment to promoting cultural understanding, religious freedom, and mutual respect across all communities in the Philippines.
